What is a sensory chew necklace?

A chew is a safe, durable object designed to be bitten and chewed. For many autistic people, people with ADHD and people with sensory processing differences, oral input is regulating. A chew provides that input without damage to clothing, pencils, fingers or teeth.

What is it made from?

Food-grade silicone, free from BPA. The cord is fabric, with a sliding bead so the length can be adjusted.

Who is it for?

Children over 3 years, teenagers and adults. It is used at home, in classrooms, in therapy and at work.

How do I clean it?

Hand wash with warm soapy water, then let it dry completely before use. Wash before first use and as needed after that.

How often should I replace it?

Replace at the first sign of splits, tears, thinning or a frayed cord. How long that takes depends entirely on the chewer. Some people get months from one, strong chewers get weeks.

Which colour should I choose?

Functionally they are identical. Choose whichever appeals most, or whichever is least visually distracting, depending on what matters to the person using it.

Safety

Is it safe for my child?

Not for children under 3 years, because of the cord length. Please read our Safety page in full before first use.

Can it be used without the cord?

Yes. The pendant can be used on its own.

Do you offer local pickup?

Yes. Free pickup in Calgary, Alberta.

Can I return a chew?

For hygiene reasons we cannot accept returns on chews that have been opened or used. If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, contact us and we will put it right.

Do you sell to schools, clinics and organizations?

Yes. Contact us about bulk orders. We would far rather these were in classrooms and clinics than sitting in our storage.
